Strategic Planning

Western University is renewing its strategic plan, and wants to hear from you.

In 1995, Western developed its first-ever strategic plan, Leadership in LearningThat was followed by Making Choices: Western's Commitments as a Research-intensive University in 2001 and, most recently, Engaging the Future in 2006, which was updated in 2010.

The time has come to renew the strategic plan to ensure Western’s mission, principles and priorities reflect the current context, opportunities and challenges facing Western today and into the foreseeable future. The process will also provide members of our campus community with the opportunity to help shape how Western's institutional aspirations are articulated and to suggest strategies for how those goals might be achieved.

Western's Senate Committee on University Planning (SCUP) has been tasked with facilitating the strategic plan renewal process by soliciting and receiving input from key stakeholder groups on campus and from the external community. This website will serve as a tool for sharing and collecting information related to the renewal process, while helping to ensure the opportunity to contribute ideas and suggestions is available to all faculty, staff, students and alumni who choose to participate.

To gather input from a wide cross-section of the campus community, members of SCUP will hold a series of meetings with key stakeholder groups, while individual faculty, staff, students, alumni and external community members will have the opportunity to share ideas and suggestions in the following ways:

When making a written submission, please include your name, affiliation to Western (student, faculty, staff, alumni, etc.) and email address. While there is no prescribed format for what written submissions must contain, consideration may be given to exploring themes outlined in the online form. Deadline for submissions is February 28, 2013.

We have included a series of FAQs regarding the strategic plan renewal process.

Thank you.
